FIT (FEM* in Tech) sprungbrett supports students at secondary schools from the 10th grade onwards in their choice of studies. FIT provides young women* with information on various fields of study at universities and universities of applied sciences in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. The aim is to get pupils interested in technical or scientific fields of study. In addition to school visits with FIT Role Models, FIT organises the annual "FIT Info Days". At a fair and in various workshops, young women* can get to know universities and UASs directly on site.
In the free FIT school visits, students from the fields of science and technology report on their study experiences and inform pupils about the wide range of courses on offer, work with pupils on technical content and report on the FIT Info Days.
At the FIT Info Days, which last several days, pupils can choose from a varied programme of workshops, lectures and laboratory exercises at various universities, get a taste of university life, meet potential employers, exchange ideas with students and ask questions in a straightforward manner. Interested students can register for the FIT Info Days on the FIT website in January. Participation is free of charge, students are exempted from classes.
FIT is carried out in cooperation with regional higher education institutions (universities and universities of applied sciences), companies and social partners and cooperates closely with the Ministry of Education and the Education Directorates for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. They support the initiative and ask schools to facilitate a workshop by FIT ambassadors and a visit to the FIT information days.
