If you are interested in an apprenticeship in crafts or technology or just want to see if you enjoy working in a workshop, you can attend a "Check-It-Out-Workshop" organised by youngFIT. These workshops are girls* only and you don't need any previous knowledge.
What exactly happens at such a workshop?
The sprungbrett counsellors will give you an overview of apprenticeships in crafts and technology and show you where you can find helpful information.
- You can look up what a "mechatronics engineer", a "track construction technician" or a "fright logistics specialist" is in the AMS occupational lexicon (www.berufslexikon.at). You can see how much she earns, how long the apprenticeship lasts and what opportunities there are after completing the apprenticeship.
- In the apprenticeship company overview of the Chamber of Commerce (lehrbetriebsuebersicht.wko.at) you can find out which companies train the apprenticeship occupation you are interested in.
Then you go to the sprungbrett workshop, where you first build a pocket lamp. You get to know different tools, learn how electricity works and learn something about electrics. Then you make a metal key ring. You will hammer, file, drill and solder, all with the support of the youngFIT advisors. Finally, you can try out programming with our robot "Dash". How do you turn a decimal number into a binary code? Finally, you will receive detailed feedback from the counsellor and agree on the next steps.
